Mount Pilatus is a mountain massif overlooking Lucerne, the most populous town in Central Switzerland (it has a population of 81,057 as of 2013). It is composed of several peaks, of which the highest (2,128 meters / 6,982 fee) is named Tomlishorn.

Owing to its location on the shores of Lake Lucerne and its outflow, the river Reuss, within sight of the Swiss Alps, Lucerne has long been a destination for tourists.
