Salary of an astronaut: how much does a NASA astronaut earn [yearly]?

Being an astronaut is a dream job for many (including me). But, how much does a NASA astronaut earn yearly? What is the salary of an astronaut?

According to NASA’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) webpage, astronauts earn between $104,898 and $161,141.

“Salaries for civilian Astronaut Candidates are based upon the Federal Government’s General Schedule pay scale for grades GS-13 (13th paygrade in the General Schedule payscale) through GS-14 (14th paygrade in the General Schedule payscale). The grade is determined in accordance with each individual’s academic achievements and experience. Currently, a GS-13 starts at $104,898 per year, and a GS-14 can earn up to $161,141 per year.” [Source]
